What Happens in Weekly Worship

Sunday 10 am

The Sunday morning worship service is a traditional service, with chancel choir, robes and manuscript preaching.  There are contemporary elements, with occasional songs that include a variety of instruments. Check our YouTube page or sermons to get a better sense of our Sunday morning worship. The worship service is followed by a time of fellowship with a coffee hour in the fellowship hall. Children begin the service in worship and are dismissed to their classrooms following the children's moment.

Sunday School for Children

Sunday School is available for ages 3 years old through high school. Regular sessions run from September through June, and our one-room Summer session runs July through August. Children start in the sanctuary at the start of worship and then head to Sunday School a little later after the children's moment. The nursery is available starting at 9:45 am for children under three. You can find it in the education building on the 2nd floor. Please see an usher in the sanctuary if you have any questions on Sunday morning and they will make sure you find your way.

Saturday Evening 5 pm

On Saturday evening we hold another service, one with a different kind of worship. We sing new songs, openly share prayer requests, watch a video, hear a short sermon, and have a time for people to respond to what was shared. Child care is not provided during this service, but we do encourage children (8 and up) to join us as part of this 45 minute service.

Where to Find us and Other Questions

Hillsdale United Methodist Church on the Map

You'll find us on the southeast corner of Hillsdale Avenue and Magnolia Avenue in Hillsdale, New Jersey.  A parking lot is located across the street of Magnolia Avenue, but it isn't very large. You may need to park on the street, but there are no meters. Handicap parking is along Magnolia Avenue, closest to the church.

What do I Wear?

Wear whatever you want. Some people dress up, some dress comfortably. We don't care too much what you wear; we just care that you come and join us.

What do You Believe?

United Methodists believe in a holy heart and holy deeds. We do things that help us love God and we try our best to love our neighbor, too. This is what we believe helps to build God's kingdom here on earth. Here's specific steps of what we do because of what we believe:

1. We worship together on a Saturday evening or Sunday morning. This is how we connect to God and get energized for ministry.
2. We join small groups! We have several ranging from Bible Study to singing groups. We also have bowling, cardplaying and babywearers! We try to have something for everyone, and invite people to join a small group so we can get to know you as we encourage one another to do God's will. You can find a list of ministries and small groups here
3. We change the world by helping others. There are several opportunities available from our food pantry, to helping CUMAC in Paterson or volunteering with Family Promise, who helps homeless families in need. Ministry to others changes other people's lives, but it also changes us. Call the church office for more information.
